Terms of Service

Reign is operated by John Nicholson, a sole proprietor in Alberta, Canada. By submitting a listing or making a payment you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract. You may not use Reign if you are barred from doing so under applicable law or sanctions.

You are buying advertising placement: a listing on one or more Reign leaderboards, and a permanent listing page carrying a link to your site.

You are not buying a prize, a competition entry, a chance to win, an award, an endorsement, or any judgement by us about the quality of your product. Nothing on Reign is a ranking by merit. Rank reflects money paid and nothing else, and every board says so.

Listings are marked as paid advertising placement. We do not accept payment to conceal that.

Rank is ordered by amount paid, highest first. Where two listings hold the same amount, the one that reached it earlier ranks higher.

Boards run in four divisions: today, this week, this month, and all time. Periods are calendar-aligned in UTC. A payment counts toward every division at once. When a period ends, that division starts again from zero; amounts paid do not carry between periods.

Cities are held by the month. Whoever holds a city when the month ends keeps a permanent conqueror crown; the city itself returns to the board on the first.

To take a position you must pay more than the listing holding it, by at least ten percent or $5, whichever is greater. The minimum to appear at all is $5.

All amounts are in United States dollars. Your bank or card issuer converts at its own rate and may add its own fee; neither is set by us and neither is refundable.

A listing that loses the top position cannot retake it immediately. A cooldown applies — one hour on the daily board, six hours elsewhere — during which it can hold second place but not first. This exists so that a position you buy is a position you actually hold for a time.

The position shown to you at checkout is an estimate, not a promise. Rank is calculated when your payment settles, against the board as it exists at that moment. Someone else may pay for the same position in the seconds between. If that happens you receive whatever rank your payment earns, you keep the full amount as balance, and we tell you immediately.

Payments are final and non-refundable. Placement is delivered the moment payment settles, and rank is a live position other people are paying to take from you. There is no cooling-off period once your listing is live.

Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be waived by agreement. Where such rights apply, they apply.

You may lose a position at any time to someone who pays more. That is the product working as described, and is not a fault, a failure of service, or grounds for a refund.

You are responsible for the site or account you submit and the offer you advertise. You confirm that you own or are authorised to promote it, that your offer is genuine and honoured as stated, and that your content is lawful, accurate and not misleading.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display your name, logo, screenshots, description and offer on Reign and in material promoting Reign, for as long as your listing exists. You keep all ownership.

When you submit a URL we fetch the page, capture a screenshot, extract a colour, and generate a description and summary using automated tools including AI. This happens without human review.

X accounts cannot be read automatically — the platform blocks it — so an X listing carries only the handle until you edit it.

Generated copy may be wrong, unflattering, or thin, particularly where a site blocks automated access or carries little text. We send you a link that lets you correct your listing. Reviewing it is your responsibility, and inaccurate generated copy is not grounds for a refund.

We may refuse, hold, edit or remove any listing at our discretion. In particular we do not accept listings for illegal goods or services, adult content, gambling, pharmaceuticals, financial products requiring licences we cannot verify, malware, deceptive schemes, or anything that infringes someone else's rights.

Listings flagged during automated screening are held for review before publication. Review is normally completed within two hours.

If we remove a listing because it breaches these terms, we may keep the amount paid. If we remove one for a reason that is not your fault, we will refund the amount paid for the period affected.

The all-time board runs in calendar quarters. At the end of a season, all-time balances carry forward at twenty-five percent and ranks are recalculated. Daily, weekly and monthly divisions reset with their own periods.

Your listing page and its link are permanent. They are not affected by a season ending, by losing rank, or by a division resetting. Only position resets.

We aim to keep Reign available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change how boards work, add or remove divisions, cities and categories, or alter pricing rules. Changes affecting how rank is calculated will be announced before they take effect and will not retroactively reduce a balance you have already paid.

We make no promise about how much traffic, how many clicks, or what result a listing will produce.

If something is wrong, contact us at john@cvwebstudio.ca first. We would rather fix it than argue about it.

Raising a chargeback for a placement that was delivered as described is a breach of these terms. Where that happens we may suspend or remove the listing, keep the balance, and decline future business. We keep records of what was purchased and delivered, including your acceptance of these terms at checkout.

You may stop using Reign at any time. Amounts already paid are not refunded and your listing page remains published unless you ask us to remove it.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law or by our payment provider, or if your use exposes us or other advertisers to risk.

Reign is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost revenue, or lost business opportunity.

Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top changes when we do. Material changes will be notified to the email on your listing before they take effect. Continuing to use Reign after that means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in that province. The courts of Alberta have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer protection law in your own jurisdiction gives you the right to bring a claim locally.
